UREAP - Proposal Update - Sketches - Ideas

It has been a bit since my last post, but that does not mean I haven't been working on my proposal. I have created a few hand sketches of the house before and after what I am going to propose for a renovation, I just need to make it to a scanner. After hearing back from UREAP they indicated that comparing two houses to then make a renovation on was just not practical. Therefore I am going to compare the before and after of just the house in Batchelor Heights. This will allow me to focus more on what costs for the actual renovation will be, and then compare the energy savings of the reno with the currently built house. I will make amendments to my proposal and will post it by tomorrow.

On a side note, if anyone every feels the need for a little inspiration I encourage you to look into this site 'http://tapiture.com/topic/architecture' It has some quite remarkable architectural ideas through the use of photos. Personally I would not say it is a creditable source but just something to stimulate your creativity.

  1. Be sure to have an energy audit done on the home before any renovations start, as this will allow the home owners to qualify for government rebates on energy efficiency upgrades.

  2. I think that the idea of comparing the before and after of the house in Batchelor is going to result in more credible research than comparing that house to the one in Golden for renovation. Looking strictly at the passive solar design for a house in Kamloops is a good idea and I think it can be very useful to know the benefits that passive solar design can have in this area. Good work!
